Larry Gurruwiwi returns to Sydney all the way from North East Arnhem Land playing alongside Sound Practitioner Becc Gray in 2 intimate sessions held at Hum studio on Sydneys Northern Beaches.

This is a rare opportunity to experience a true master and custodian of traditional Yidaki play, not only this ancient tool/instrument but, move through the songlines of yolngu culture through his powerful and haunting voice.

Larry, is the son of legendary yiḏaki master Djalu Gurruwiwi. He began his journey as a young child under his father's guidance and today, he is celebrated both in Arnhem Land and internationally as a senior custodian of the didgeridoo.

In this 75 minute session you will experience the unification of ancient cultures where spirit, connection to land and nature are shared through the purifying ritual of authentic sound. A woven tapestry of haunting songlines in language about land, the deep vibration of traditional Yolngu Yidaki, (aka Didjeridoo), alongside eastern traditions of the Gong, Hand crafted Singing Bowls and ceremonial chimes and bells.

SOUND IMMERSION - JULY 2026

Be gently carried beyond the thinking mind and into a deeply held state of rest.

Sat 25th July 2026, 7:00 pm - 8.15

Be gently carried beyond the thinking mind and into a deeply held state of rest. Using Nepalese singing bowls, gongs, crystal bowls and other instruments, this session unfolds as a guided sonic journey that is layered, spacious and intuitive, allowing the body and nervous system to soften, recalibrate, and receive.

Sound becomes the container. You are not doing anything, fixing anything, or striving for an outcome. You are simply being held in vibration. The rich, grounding tones of the Nepalese bowls anchor you into the earth and the body, while the expansive waves of the gongs wash through stagnant energy, opening space and movement. Crystal bowls bring softness and permission to sink and float. Together, these instruments create a living soundscape that moves through cycles of depth, stillness, and expansion—meeting each person exactly where they are.

The Power of Frequency & Vibration

Everything in the body operates on frequency. When we are stressed, overwhelmed, or emotionally taxed, our internal rhythms can become fragmented. Sound immersion works not by force, but by entrainment—allowing the body and brain to naturally synchronize with steady, harmonious vibrations. This can support:

  • Down-regulation of the nervous system (rest and digest)

  • A shift from beta brainwaves into alpha, theta, and delta states

  • Deep physical relaxation and muscular release

  • Emotional processing and integration without words

  • A felt sense of grounding, spaciousness, and inner calm

This is a journey of listening—not just with the ears, but with the whole body. A return to resonance. A place where you are supported, carried, and gently re-tuned by sound.
